So, I’ve done it, after hours of deliberation, and rephrasing, and editing, I have finally sent the email to my student to ask for their help. Now I sit and wait for them to reply!
Very nerve-racking, I worry that no one will reply. The students submit their final graduate film and work in 2 days, so they are focused on that, so this isn’t an idea time to ask. Setting up the focus group has had its challenges, not only have the students been busy with their submissions but finding a time when I am in the university and has been tough as I am always teaching.
I have requested an online focus group, this is not the ideal scenario for me; I had wanted to do the focus group face to face as they are a lot more chatty in person.
My problem is I don’t like in London and the teaching days I am in London are extremely busy.
My idea situation would have been to have watch the programmes together in a small group and then answer then questions. However, this cannot happen for reasons mentioned above.
My PgCert idea has morphed many times and now I feel like I am finally at a place where its scaled it down, and in a manageable form. I feel confident about what I am doing, although I will feel more confident after I have had a few responses.
I have had 3 responses and waiting now on others. Once they have submitted, I will send either a follow up email to the group or send emails to a few students to ask for their help personally. I think around 6 students will be ideal.
